Horsehead Nebula

Nearly 4 hours of exposure time : 3700 Sec L +1600 sec R + 2800 Sec G + 5900 Sec B CCD - Jan 02-04 , 2002 . Apogee AP6 CCD camera - image processing and autofocus : Cyanogen MAXIM version 3.
Distance - 1600 Light Years - this famous nebula is placed close to the left belt star of Orion .
This Nebula was discovered photographically in 1889 - and is part of a huge gas and dust cloud - including the well known Orion Nebula. (Click for Wide Field Photo by David Mahlin).
The Horse Head Nebula was recently photographed into large details by the Space Telescope.
Photographers : Lars T. Mikkelsen, Thomas Balstrup , Kim, Rasmus, Marie , Mads C , Bo and Hans - in different groups across 3 nights . Weather conditions - moonlit sky - occasionally clouds - extremely cold.

Rosette nebula.
Dec 22-23 2001 +Jan 03-04 2002 - our students Bo, Jens R og Søren did capture the well known Rosette Nebula - close to Orion. Distance approximately 3000 Lightyears.
DATA : 2700 Sec combined LRGB - Dec 23 - Jan 04 - difficult conditions - extremely cold.
