Object Data : Distance - 1600 light years - click for details Within the constellation of Orion a lot of young stars form the Orion
Association. This Great Nebula in Orion is a part of an even larger cloud of
interstellar matter which is about 1500-1600 light years away and several houndred light
years across - and includes e.g. the well known Horsehead Nebula.
The Orion Nebula M42 is probably the most photographed deep-sky object.
Equipment: Meade 5" ED Apochromatic Refractor + Apogee AP6 CCD camera
Exposure time: 5000 sec Luminance + 700 sec Red + 2600 sec Green + 5000 sec Blue - applying the LRGB method described by Rob Gendler et al.
Sky conditions:clear sky - freezing, no moonlight.
