on August 31, 2005, two of our dedicated astronomy students Soeren Boenloekke and Benny Cords Pedersen were working at the observatory when they discovered auroras in the northern sky.
They reacted promptly and moved the photographic equipment into the country side where they took a number of photographs.
Data : CANON Eos 10D - 2331 (2131UT) to 2337 (2137UT) - 60 sec exposure time each. Part of the well known "Big Dipper" is visible to the upper left.

These images are copyfree - provided that our two young photographers are credited.
Unfortunately the brightness decreased quite fast, but still, the next time we will be better prepared.
